As a trained Facilitator he conducts workshops to guide organizations to solve problems through self-examination and the open exchange of ideas. This process results in positive outcomes that help organisations overcome challenges. It also results in wider acceptance and adoption of proposed solutions since they were derived in an open participative process.
Adrian has a special talent for recognizing value especially in areas where others fail to notice. This talent has given him a significant advantage in his more than twenty-five years of experience as a chartered accountant and internal auditor and promises to be a valuable asset for his clients where he provides strategic leadership and guidance.
He received his secondary school education from St. Mary’s College, Port of Spain before starting his career as an auditor at Ernst and Young. Since then he has built an impressive list of qualifications and an equally impressive career, working with some of the country’s leading organizations including the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago, The Trinidad & Tobago National Petroleum Marketing Company Ltd and Telecommunication Services of Trinidad and Tobago, while successfully managing his own consultancy firm which counts Eteck MTS and CLICO among its clients.
His exceptional knowledge of accounting, financial and auditing procedures led him to be called to join the team that helped rehabilitate CLICO after its financial collapse in 2009. He said one of the highlights of this experience was that, despite the fact that he worked with a very small team, the strength and utility of their recommendations played a key role in bringing the company back to solvency in 2015.
This outcome was a product of the inclusive, collaborative culture that Adrian seeks to foster among his clients’ staff which are most organisation’s sometimes hidden strength.. He said “All Organisations have people who have intricate knowledge of the business which we need to exploit fully. One way we can do that is by ensuring that they are in a position to express their ideas and then making certain that those ideas are developed and executed.”
Adrian is always aim to encompass the entire organisational structure of each client in the generation of new and innovative ideas. His progressive philosophy focuses not solely on value protection, the traditional focus of risk management, but also value creation. He said “We are looking at a future where audit can be a catalyst for increasing value in an organization, where it can be a conduit for getting information to decision makers from the floor where a lot of ideas exist”. He explained that for this to happen “We have to transition audit from being seen as the ‘corporate police’ to being a strategic partner to the different lines of business”.
The idea of value enhancement is a recurring theme in Adrian's ’s life and can be found in his personal interests and activities as well. Mr. Clarke, who is an avid golfer and tries to play at least twice a week, is also passionate about technology and enjoys tinkering with computers in his spare time. Mr. Clarke channels his love of technology into philanthropic endeavours such as refurbishing used computers and donating them to charity.
Given his line of work and personal interests, it comes as no surprise that Mr Clarke enjoys releasing the value and potential in the Organisations he serves.
